

Bill von Hippel
William (Bill) von Hippel has been a faculty member at The Ohio State University (1990-2001), the University of New South Wales (2001-2006), and the University of Queensland (2006-2022). Currently, he is an independent scientist, author, and expert focused on helping companies improve research outcomes.
His research interests include evolutionary psychology, executive functioning and social intelligence, and implicit social cognition. During his 32-year career as a professor, he served on the editorial boards of Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Social Psychological and Personality Science, and Social Cognition, and he was an associate editor of Psychological Science.
Dr. von Hippel has authored more than 150 publications, including The Social Leap: The New Evolutionary Science of Who We Are, Where We Come From, and What Makes Us Happy. In 2019, The Social Leap was honored with the Book Prize for the Promotion of Social and Personality Science awarded by the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Dr. von Hippel is also a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, the Society of Experimental Social Psychology, and the Institute for Advanced Study, Berlin.
